"Watch out!"
The warning came too late. The ball being chased by the boy was already in the centre of the road.
The driver, whose wife raised the alarm, was an expert. He feinted to the left yanked the steering back and then wheeled right. At the same time, he hit the brakes.
The boy waited till he was sure the vehicle was at a halt before, looking left, right and left, he went to pick his ball. He'd remained still, by the road side, while the scene unfolded. Retrieving the ball, he went back to his mates.
"Missus, what made you shout?! The man growled.
"Ehn, well...I thought..."
"Not sure you did." He muttered.
"Huh? What did you say? Look out--"
The truck hit their car before she could finish, sending it into a spin.
