There has not been any time like this in Nigeria's history vis-a-vis the security situation.
The closest to it was the civil war and the events leading up to it.
Whilst that was targeted, localized violence (before the outbreak of full blown hostilities), this is an unprecedented breakdown in law and order on many fronts (at the same time).
The thing that makes the present situation more precarious is that the security forces are not only in the eye of the storm, they appear to be overwhelmed.
The point here is that these are unusual times. ° Be ready and prepared for anything
° Know that unscrupulous elements will take advantage of this state of affairs, try not to be a victim
° Stay abreast with developments, let those guide your decisions
° Deploy any legal measures that will improve your security
