Cooking Fire Safety

There are millions of home fires every year. 50% of that number is as a result of cooking.

Of the fires that start in the kitchen, the most devastating tend to be those that are gas related.

Cooking fires usually spread quickly and generate a lot of smoke.

The are things that can be done to prevent cooking fires:
~ Separate gas cylinder from cooker
~ Check for gas leaks before commencing cooking
~ Do not shake cylinders to check gas level (pour water on the body instead)
~ Young persons should not cook unsupervised
~ Keep towels and cloths away from naked flames
~ Regularly monitor the cooking
~ Always keep electric cookers disconnected when not in use

Stay safe!
