Wisdom Of A Cab Driver

Someone said something profound to me today.

He said, "Life is like a standing fan, it services one person for a while, then moves on to another."

It was, still is, an unusual take on life.

Why can't life be an air conditioner and just chill everywhere, and everyone, at once?

All my life, I've been the guy that is waiting for the fan to swing in his direction. Many times, I have been disappointed.

So, I learned that if one wanted cooling, they should get a portable electric fan.

That is how I became an enforcer for the boss. Then displaced him and took over.

In three years of running these streets, nobody has had the guts to stand close to me not to talk of speak to me.

But the cab driver did.

After he dropped off an old lady. He watched her make her way through a revolving door with a valet and turned to me and spoke those words.

I responded with a question: "What if the swing mechanism is broken?"
