Kerry

Kerry and his dad were, well, generations apart. The son was a millennial for starters... The things they managed to agree on were few and far in between.

On his deathbed, the old man took a final stab at imparting something of lasting value. He said to his son,
"I know you feel like you are the man but do not forget that is because I did all the hard work."
"Not again, dad."
"Listen son, your biggest obstacle is being born into money. It stopped you from seeing life from another side."
"So?"
"One in wealth, should not brag about his strengths until he experiences poverty. There is a lot hidden in wealth that poverty will expose."
"Hmm...Okay"
"It is not my boy. I am about to change your lot. Money will not be accessible to you for the next five years of your life. You will have to take up paid employment."
"What?"
"Yes. Your finances might take a beating.
So, when you  have no money to fund your temptations, don't brag about your morals. Much is hidden in poverty that wealth will expose.
"You cannot do this dad. You will not."
"It is done son. If you can find your feet within the stipulated period, you inherit everything.
Else..."

Kerry glared at his father. There were many things he wanted to say. But, he got up and stomped out.

Four years have passed. Kerry just got a job, as a cleaning inspector for the city council.
