The concept of balance has been interpreted by different people to mean different things. For some, it is a utopian dream.
Yet, balance is extremely important. Especially for continued functionality and productivity. At the root of every illness is imbalance.
The thing to know is that balance does not mean equality. Trying to schedule an equal number of hours for each of your various work and personal activities is unrealistic and unrewarding
Your balance-point will vary over time, usually daily. The right balance for you today might be different tomorrow. Thus, you keep adjusting to find that pivot that keeps things, and you, in just the right proportions.
In the same vein, there is no perfect, one-size fits all, balance. ‘Balance’ differs from one person to another because of varying priorities and lifestyles.
Whatever the case, the following are things that can help you attain balance:
~Avoid procrastination
~Forget perfection
~Learn what you can control and what you cannot
~Unplug [from tech, work and demands]
~Flexible [work] schedules
~Be no martyr
~Outsource whatever/wherever you can
~Set your own rules
~Just say no
~A little relaxation goes a long way
The key to balance is contained in this statement by King Solomon; “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
Stay safe!
