COVID-19 Scams

If you live in Nigeria, text messages and emails on palliatives (by the FG, CBN, NCDC or your bank) most likely fake. This statement is accurate up to 90%. If they then ask for banking details that include your BVN, answer to your personal question, internet banking ID etc. The remaining 10% is now accounted for.

First, there are no such measures (to directly credit your account) anywhere. What is more obtainable is standing in a queue to receive food items or having them shared to groups.

Secondly, if accounts were even to be credited, it would not require you to jump those hoops. The relevant agency or organ of government would simply work with financial institutions to get this done.

It is vital to note that the major argument against this has been that only 40 out of 200 million Nigerians have BVN. You see how representative that is not.

The reason for sharing this is that several persons in the pursuit of the 10 or 20 thousand NGN, they were promised, have lost hundreds or had their account cleaned out.

You or anyone you know should not add to the statistics.
