There is a simple reason organizations employ people, business owners take on apprentices and folks contract out jobs: to solve problems.
Impact, income and influence are directly related to problem-solving skills.
Every high-flyer in any space, every money-making business in any sector is founded on the principle of solving problems. It might be an existing problem they found a solution to or a problem they made you aware of and then sold you the solution.
In any case, solving problems and success go hand in hand.
The thing is that too many persons who were brought on board to solve problems, end up becoming problems or worse still, problems to the solving of (existing) problems.
So, if you desire to be sought after, here is what to do:
✓ Be part of the solution (do everything in your power not to contribute to the issues)
✓ Be absolutely clear as to what is expected of you (then do all of that)
✓ Be willing to go the extra mile (doing more than your bit is both building of capacity and positioning for responsibility)
✓ Be the one that people go to when they have issues (work yourself into that space [and indispensability])
The one who has problems will always seek out the one who will solve them. Be that latter.
