The #EndSARS movement swept through Nigeria like a gale out of nowhere. One minute it was not, the next it was not only present but also a force to be reckoned with.
The amazing part of the narrative is that it came from the most unlikely quarter: the youths.
There are critical elements it brought to the fore:
✓Never write anyone or thing off. Who would have thought that the crop of people derisively referred to as lazy would have brought so much pressure to bear?
✓Where commitment to a cause exists, lack of apparent leadership is no factor.
✓There is unity in shared pain. It breaks down walls of partition (ethnic, religious et al).
✓There is unimaginable power online. It can birth the nation of our dreams.
✓Where the committed are, the mercenary will infiltrate.
✓Never underestimate the length to which people will go to preserve the status quo.
Nigerian youths have made something clear: a new nation is possible.
