If you cannot categorically affirm the state of your security and the effectiveness of measures in place, if you are still of the belief that it is not really your business, you need to have a rethink.
With the current state of the world and the deployment of security agencies to enforce movement restriction orders and other ad hoc duties, there is a reduction in the number of those available to actually protect and preserve.... When you throw in the increase in crime (some of it, hunger-induced), you realize that you cannot sit back and leave your security infrastructure to chance.
So, what can you differently:
°Analyze
What are the risks you run and the exposures you face? An assessment of your environment, the people who live there, how well-off they are (or not), the current security arrangement in place and the efficacy thereof and other such items, is crucial.
°Organize
Come together with others. Start neighbourhood watches. Where they exist, strengthen them. Pool resources for security, and supplies as well as for helping others in your neighbourhood cushion the effects of this season. Those fellow's can support your security efforts by joining in, providing Intel or actually fighting criminals if it comes to that.
°Sensitize
Share with your family members and neighbours what to do if your security is breached and any state-provided security service that you can latch onto as a last line of defence.
Yet, let it be clear to you, that at this time, you are your first line of defence and the most reliable.
Stay secure!
