A Giant Tale

Anich was the youngest in a family of giants. Massive, penetrating eyes accentuated a mind that was always working. Most people's first impression was to want to underate him. They soon learned that was a stupid thing to do.

Like his older siblings, he was not scared of anything. Like them, little people from other realms ran to him for help. When his countenance fell, it sent shivers down the spine of those realms and made his siblings sit up. When he roared in anger, there were tremors in different places.

He had not always been a giant. But he'd stumbled on the potion that made giants of people. And since then, there'd been no looking back.

Whilst his other siblings largely ignored him and his land-grabbing tendencies, Asu, the eldest would not. He made it his job to keep him in line.

Anich kept calm and plotted his move.

The day he raised alarm over a problem in his domain, the others did not think too much of it. After all, diseases came and went. Why should anyone worry about flu?

And then the ailment somehow found its way into theIr demesnes, resulting in unimaginable death tolls.

Suddenly, the others had major crises on their hands: dealing with an illness that had no cure, catering for their families without being able to go hunting and the dreadful realization that each passing day was impoverishing them.

Then Anich made another announcement: he'd found a way to contain the ailment. He was willing to help his siblings. He just needed some token in return.

Left with no choice they agreed.

When they were sure their families were well again, they declared war on Anich. It was the beginning of the end -- for the giants, and their little people.
