The Quest For Security in Nigeria

With the way things are going in Nigeria, if care is not taken, the security situation may grow worse before it gets better.

The scary part is that getting better is not the automatic sun that comes after the rain. If the right things are not done the proverbial sun may not appear on the horizon anytime soon.

Why?

The security challenge (springing up virtually everywhere) seems to have overwhelmed those tasked with securing Nigeria and her peoples.

Secondly, too many armed, ideological groups are springing up (across the land), compounding the existing dilemma.

The right things that need to be put in place will start with the security agencies going all out in terms of resources, men and intelligence. More than lip-service is required to win this war.

Also, it has become imperative that all hands (in every strata of society) be on deck to tackle a monster that is feeding off imbalances (real and perceived) in the polity. The traditional and religious institutions can help in this regard.

A convergence of efforts from all peace-loving persons and groups will help restore normalcy.
