The BH Question

The war against terrorism or is it extremism in Nigeria is being won. It is also being lost; depending on whom you talk to.

There are conflicting reports. Some days the Nigeria Army (NA) has overrun Boko Haram (BH); on other days, BH deals huge blows to the NA.

Then there are troubling signals. If the NA is making as much progress as some would have us believe, why is there a rise in defections? Why would soldiers vow not to return to the northeast to fight this very present menace, and go to great lengths to avoid such deployment?

There is also the question of intelligence gathering/reports -- whether from local or foreign sources. Are they used? Are they used effectively? Should the citizenry take seriously the reports that assert that BH is making a move on the south? These are million-naira questions begging for answers.

Since this is Nigeria, where anything is possible,
• Stay alert
• Report suspicious activities
• Make your own security arrangements
• Pray (that the first three and other dynamics will continue to align favourably)

Stay secure!
